What to See In Stockholm
Traveling to Stockholm soon and still not quite sure of what you should see and do in town? That’s what we’re here for. Below you’ll find our guide for What to see in Stockholm, written by the staff at City Backpackers Hostel. True locals and the best guides in town.
Listen to some live music at Fylkingen
Stockholm has a massive music scene, although traditionally Swedish music is a mix of Rock and Pop, famous of course as the home of everyone’s 70s favourite, ABBA, Fylkingen has gigs on every night of the week, offering up alternative and electro music.

See the grand Vasa
Stockholm’s most valued heirloom is an almost 400 year old warship which was recovered from the deep seas in the year 1961. The Vasa is very popular with the locals and is stunning, to say the least. The ship is a good 69m in length and has many myths and rumours doing the rounds about its past and doomed fate. The Vasa is a must on anybody’s What to see in Stockholm list.
Relish the Pontus fun
Looking at what to see in Stockholm? Take some time out and go to the Pontus! If there is anything in Stockholm that screams impressive when you reach there it is this place. Named after the less-than-modest founder, this venue is a big 3 floor restaurant which combines 3 unique concepts at a single venue. The bar serves some delicious oysters, while sushi and dim sum are other must eats. The food here is to die for.

The Spy Bar
Those who love to shake a leg, can take a look at the Spy Bar. All you have to do is show to the bouncers that you are the right person to enter and enjoy the night dancing away. Known for its exclusive nights, Spy Bar offers a dynamic nightlife experience, making it a cultural epicenter of Stockholm and a go-to place for unforgettable evenings.
Picnic away from the busy city
Fed up of the busy streets of Gamla Stan? Head out to the lush green oasis in Djurgården. This island is not far off from the main town and has some exotic picnic spots. One can cycle, walk and enjoy the city view from there. The monarchs of Sweden own this island since way back in 1452. Till date it is managed and preserved by the royal courts. Djurgården is the perfect place for a nice picnic.
Go to the Grillska Husets
Sweden has a rich history when it comes to coffee. The Stockholm natives here consume on average 4.5 cups a day!! Try enjoying ‘fika’, a sweet coffee fix which is a lovely treat for anyone with a sweet tooth, you’ll get addicted! Don’t miss Grillska Husets Konditori: for coffee lovers, this place is like heaven. Enjoy a cup and relax! The Grillska Husets Konditori is a cafe and bakery run by Stockholms Stadsmission, a chain of secondhand charity shops.
Have a drink on the beautiful Flyt
Many people choose to enjoy a fine drink aboard a boat with a bar or a pontoon. The Flyt is one of the more popular places to be seen. You could easily end up dancing the night away with strangers after a few of the delicious drinks they serve up here! For a romantic evening this place is the place to be. The Flyt looks impressive at night time and is a popular haunt for locals and tourists alike.
