Hostel Celica

A prison hostel isn't something you find everywhere. But this one has a fascinating history, which is briefly explained within the building, alongside regularly changing exhibitions by local artists. I found the idea of staying in a prison intriguing and I'm very happy with my choice. The staff is very friendly, the bed is comfortable, and the service meets my needs. I'm certain that if I return to Ljubljana (which I plan to do), I would definitely stay here again. The design is very appealing, in my opinion. Sure, it's a former prison, but I've stayed in offices where I felt more confined. There are common rooms to relax in, and you can go outside whenever you like. 😉

Good location. The breakfast is very good. The common areas are always clean. The staff were all very friendly. The rooms are spacious and have a private wardrobe to store belongings. The bathrooms could be cleaner, but that also depends a lot on the guests... there could be a full-length mirror in the rooms.

Fantastic hostel. Absolutely perfect for relaxing. Everything is spotless. The breakfast buffet is also delicious and plenty for bikers :) And the bike garage is perfect. It's a great place to park your bike. Safely stored. Premium.

A highly recommended experience. Nicely decorated and welcoming. Great location, a 10-minute walk from the center. Everything is very clean, even the shared bathrooms. The bed and pillow are very comfortable. There are blackout curtains. Well soundproofed; there was a party outside and we couldn't hear a thing from the room. The breakfast is very good. Free parking. Friendly staff.

Excellent location, excellent staff and service, excellent bathroom, super comfortable and clean. Close to the bus station. Easy walking distance to Ljubljana's main tourist attractions. Super pleasant atmosphere, with art exhibitions, historical accounts, in short, highly recommended.

Not your typical hostel. Great location and excellent service. Each room is uniquely designed. Very good value for money, including breakfast in a lovely courtyard.

One of my favorite hostels. The location is wonderful, and it's worth every penny. I stayed in the largest room in the hostel, and the smell was quite unpleasant, but it could have been due more to a lack of hygiene from a roommate than to the cleanliness of the place, which was apparently spotless.

Beautiful hostel. It's a renovated prison with very nice details and spaces. The rooms are very nice, as are the common areas. Plus, their activities aren't typical hostel activities, but rather more cultural and community-oriented. The breakfast is super good, and it's also a very safe space. They are very friendly. Highly recommended.

I have traveled to over 100 hostels. This one will be in my top 10. The best: you can feel the investment: - badges for all access, reception toilets with a pin that changes weekly, modern spaces, zen area, toilets with the latest modern equipment - takeaway breakfast on request. Includes sandwich, fruit juice, fruit, cereal bar. - kitchen area - towel included - private locker accessible with badge including a socket inside!!! - unbeatable value for money - excellent location for transport (bus and train) - controlled storage access for luggage drop-off - attentive service - luxury breakfast

Positive: The hostel has free parking directly in front of the building. The rooms are small, but adequate for two people. It was also very clean. Contrary to other reviews, it was quiet at night, but we were there from Sunday to Monday. The shared toilets and showers were also okay for a hostel. Negative: The breakfast wasn't great, but adequate for a hostel. There were some uncanny characters on the hostel grounds. Please note that you have to walk about 10 minutes to get to the old town.

What a beautiful hostel!! So much attention to detail. We had a great experience. To begin with, our room didn't have bunk beds and the beds were side by side. And the bathroom was inside our room. They had plenty of common areas and the breakfast was great.

Great hostel! It's about 10 minutes from the city center and is located right in an autonomous zone, but I still felt super safe. It's cleaned every day and soooo thoroughly that everything is always clean. There are also enough places to hang out where you can meet other travelers. And the breakfast is good! So, all in all a 10/10

Very friendly hostel, a very interesting experience to do at least once in your life. Very friendly staff and really complete breakfast! Hostel very close to the center. Only downside, very few electrical outlets in the rooms... really a shame. I highly recommend it anyway.

Clean facility, unique and welcoming rooms, shared bathrooms equipped with hairdryers, shower stalls, and electric hand dryers, a more than satisfactory sweet and savory breakfast, an excellent central location, and a young and attentive staff. All amenities throughout the facility are designed and built with particular attention to environmental protection and energy efficiency. One of the best hostels I've ever stayed at.

The rooms are very comfortable, the breakfast is amazing, there are different options: breads, savory and sweet sauces, fruits, juices, lemon and cucumber waters, eggs, various options for all tastes. The hotel is very well located and it is possible to walk to the most interesting tourist sites. The support staff is very friendly and they are always available to help. It was a very pleasant stay.

We stayed at the hostel from January 3rd to 6th. It's a very welcoming place, also suitable for families. They offer generous breakfasts with hot drinks and yogurt included. The shared bathrooms are large and clean. There are board games available, an art gallery with temporary exhibitions, and even a very nice communal relaxation area. The hostel is close to the historic center and next to the famous neighborhood full of murals and graffiti. The rooms where you sleep used to be actual cells, but the new, more artistic and designer look erases the initial impression that the iron bars can give. I think it's even nicer to stay there in the summer because there's a garden and a basketball court.

The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We had a small, clean room with comfortable beds and a modern bathroom. The hostel is lovingly decorated, and there's plenty to explore. Cozy hammocks in the garden invite you to relax. The breakfast selection is small but delicious. The location is great; you're in the center in just a few minutes. It was a fantastic stay, thank you very much.
