Head to Lion Belge for a fancy night out
Location: Langestraat 123, 8000 Brugge, Belgium
Opening hours: Wednesday – Saturday from 11:30am – 2:30pm and 5:30pm – 9pm
Since 2014, Lion Belge on Langestraat has held a firm place among the city’s many eateries. Sam and Lara serve traditional cuisine, such as meatloaf, delicious fish, and seasonal dishes. You’ll also find unique specialties on the menu. Lion Belge’s clientele consists mainly of locals who dine there regularly, though tourists also appreciate the relaxed atmosphere. Dishes to share include pizza, naan bread with pulled beef or pulled chicken, croquettes, and glazed pork belly. I loved discovering their wide selection of wines as well. The one they recommended paired perfectly with my delicious main.
A true cheap eats spot: Tasty Bruges Sandwichshop
Location: Sint-Jakobsstraat 2, 8000 Brugge, Belgium
Opening hours: Monday – Saturday from 8am – 4pm
This sandwich shop near the Market Square is exceptionally great and might be my favourite from all of them. Get ready for affordable gluten-free and vegan options, wraps, salads, fresh juices, coffee, paninis, and croques. Whatever you order from the menu, you’ll be happy with your choice. You do, however, need to be lucky to get a table. Nonetheless, it’s still worth paying a quick visit and grabbing your sandwich to go, or sitting down in a park nearby.
Chose from many options at De Stoepa
Location: Oostmeers 124, 8000 Brugge, Belgium
Opening hours: Tuesday – Sunday from 11:30am – 12am
De Stoepa is a cozy pub for dining and conversation on the edge of Bruges’ city center. Enjoy delicious, fresh European cuisine with burgers, pasta, and salads. In keeping with the interior, they also offer Eastern-inspired dishes with fresh stir-fries, wraps, and Asian curries with rice. Start with a wide selection of appetizers or a combination from the street food selection. Afterwards, enjoy a unique dessert like the “Hello to the Queen.” You’re also always welcome for a cozy evening with a glass from their extensive wine selection or one of the numerous beers. There’s a large garden terrace and a winter terrace with heating which makes the whole experience even better.
