Europe’s Famous Hostels is excited to announce its latest expansion, growing our network to 54 top-rated hostels across Europe. Our newest members, Urban Oasis Hostel in Lecce, Italy and World Wide World Hostel in Zagreb, Croatia, embody the true spirit of hostelling: authentic, community-driven, and designed by backpackers for backpackers.
When paying a visit, What stood out about these hostels wasn’t just their location or facilities, but the way they create community and connection. They are hostels made by backpackers, run by backpackers, and designed for backpackers, living up to the core essence of hostels.
🌿 Urban Oasis Hostel – Lecce, Italy
Charming backpacker hostel in the heart of Salento
As you walk in to Urban Oasis, you are quickly hit that feeling of waling into a home rather than a hostel. Located just minutes from Lecce’s train station and the historic center, the building itself is a traditional Salento-style house. What impressed us most was how the owners, Walter and his team, have woven sustainability and community into every corner — from handmade furniture made from reclaimed wood to composting programs that nourish the garden.
The hostel’s small size is part of its charm: five dormitories and a few private rooms are complemented by shared kitchens, reading nooks, and outdoor spaces that invite guests to connect. We loved how even small gestures — a shared pantry for leftover food or beach gear left behind by previous guests — foster a sense of shared responsibility and care. Urban Oasis is a cozy, authentic place where every detail reflects thoughtfulness and heart.
⚡ World Wide World hostel – Zagreb, Croatia

World Wide Hostel is Zagreb’s ultimate social hostel, famous for its lively pub crawls, beer pong tournaments, and vibrant communal energy. Recently recognized as Best Hostel in Croatia at the HOSCAR Awards, it also hosts the city’s top-rated activity: its iconic pub crawl.
The hostel is ran by Cracker, a true legend in the backpacker world, takes pride on not only knowing the name of each guest by name, but for hosting some of the wildest stories a hostel living room has ever witnessed , so be warned!
